Do I need a SlideShare account to use SlideShare for Facebook application?

No, you do not need to have a SlideShare account to use SlideShare for Facebook. You can always upload your documents and presentations on SlideShare for Facebook.
You can optionally create a SlideShare account and link it to your SlideShare for Facebook App in case you want your presentations to be visible on the SlideShare site as well.
