Today Microsoft released 2 out-of-band security updates:
Everyone should get the update for Internet Explorer. Developers should also get the update for Visual Studio.

What is an out-of-band security update?
An out-of-band security update is an update that is released outside of the normal Microsoft security update schedule. Microsoft normally releases updates on the second Tuesday of the month.

Microsoft releases security updates on the second Tuesday of every month. Today Microsoft released 6 new security updates.
To download the updates, visit the Microsoft Update Web site. If you have automatic updating turned on, your computer will update and install these security updates.

· If you use Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 you are not affected.
· If you use Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Windows XP Service Pack 3 your computer might be affected.
· The vulnerability might affect one of the main components that Microsoft Windows Media Center uses for recording and playing television video.
· If you are logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker could take control of your system.
What you can do to help protect yourself
· Turn on automatic updating so your computer will automatically download and install the security update when it is available.
