Game Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for professional and independent game developers. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have had a simple Mod Installer/manager that works for most games for awhile. Until recently it was just my friends and I using it privately. So we did upload files from other places and used it privately. I decided to release it on my site but removed all the uploaded Mods ( I have a lot of respect for rights of the authors). Unfortunately now I have no mods at all. Where and how can I ask some modders to allow me to submit their mods or simply they can submit it themselves.

The site is a work in progress because it was an afterthought but it gets the job done.

I am hoping if this works then mod authors can showcase their work or possibly sell their mods. When I visit a particular game forum or mod site and want to talk about the mod manager I get censored or banned. Any ideas on where modders can be reached or is there a particular source that does allow redistribution?

I am not posting the site or anything so I don't come off as trying to promote my stuff. Unless someone recommends I do that.

games tested to work with so far: Skyrim (does not handle load order) L4d L4d2 KillingFloor CS (all versions including CS:GO) possibly more but these are the games I play and use mods for.

Why have a central repository in the first place? Many mod sites allow to download files directly. You could write downloading code for the different sites and maybe make a browser plugin that helps feeding the data to your mod manager. – Mr. Beast Apr 30 at 16:32
Most sites don't have direct download. You have to go through registration etc or enter some sort of captcha. – Vangel May 1 at 19:23
You can copy the cookies from the browser. – Mr. Beast May 1 at 21:40
