Getting Answers
How do I find answers to my question?
There's a good chance that someone has already asked the question you have in mind, and that someone's answered it. Before you post a question, search for it first.
Select "Find answers" in the search area, and type in your question, or a keyword (like an error number).

Click the search button
, and then look through the results for your answer.
back to topCan I refine my search?
Absolutely. There are a number of ways to narrow your search:
- At the top of the screen, click Forums, and then select a product or solution to search in that category.

- Use the drop-down menu on the Search button to refine your search by product or forum.

- Go to any forum page, and select a version and or topic in the dropdowns, and then search. You'll be searching within your selections. If you don't find what you need, you can remove search scoping in the search results windows to widen your search.

back to topSomeone posted my question, but it hasn't been answered yet.
If you find the same question you wanted to ask in the forum, but it hasn't been answered yet, click the
Me Too button. That way you'll be notified via email when your question has been answered.

Note: You can click Me Too even if the question is answered, to get updates on that thread. You have to be signed in to click
Me Too.
back to top There are a lot of posts replying to my question. How do I know which is the best?
Posts that actually contain the correct answer to the question will be marked "answer" by a trusted community member or Microsoft representative.

You can also look for posts with a high number of "helpful" votes, even if they haven't been marked as answers yet. These may appear with the designation "Most Helpful Reply"

back to topHow do I post a question?
If you've searched the forum and you can't find a question that is the same or similar to yours, it's time to post your own question.
- Select Ask a question in the Search area, or click Post a Question on the search results page.

- Type in your question.
- Click the search
button. A short list of possible answers to you question is listed and following the list is the place
to Post your question. - The "Title" field automatically displays the question you typed in. You can rephrase the question if you want to.

- Type in any details about your question that you think would be helpful. Details like what you are trying to do, what you have already tried, and your computer type are helpful to those trying to answer.

- From the Forum dropdown list, select the forum or product you're asking about. This may generate other dropdowns. For example, if you picked the Office forum, you may see a "Office Version" dropdown and a "Office Topic" dropdown. Use these to make your
question as specific as you can.

- Select "Notify me when someone replies to this question" if you want to.

- Click Submit. Your question has been posted.

Note: You have to be signed in to post a question.

Microsoft Community Code of Conduct
This Code of Conduct applies to all users of the Microsoft Community forums.
Member Qualifications
The Microsoft Community forums are designed for individuals 13 years of age or older.
As a participant of these forums you agree that you will uphold this Code of Conduct, and are responsible for all activities and content you post/upload.
In addition to upholding this Code of Conduct, you are responsible for adhering to all applicable local and national laws.
These are your forums. Help us to keep it safe, friendly, fun and helpful.
back to topPlease do:
- Be polite and respectful in your posts, and in your replies to other people.
- Keep conversation threads on track. It's okay to disagree with another user's post, but don't take the thread off track to do so. Always address your comments to the person who asked the initial question, not the other posters. In-depth discussions can
be held in the feedback forum if necessary.
- Cite the source of anything you post or upload, if it isn't your own original content. Be honest about your sources.
- Keep it clean. No profanity, obscenity, insulting or bigoted comments please.
- Search to see if a question you'd like answered has already been posted by somebody else. Posting the same question repeatedly and starting multiple threads on the same subject can be confusing.
- Report any kind of abuse you find in the forums. You will find "Report abuse" links in every post and in every profile.
back to topPlease don't:
- Divert or change a thread for your own purposes; just start a new thread with the subject you want to discuss.
- Post questions that are the same or similar to questions you have already posted. When someone has an answer to your question, that person will respond to you.
- Threaten, stalk, insult, victimize or intimidate anyone (or group of people) for any reason; including on the basis of age, gender, disability, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race or religion.
- Incite other users to threaten, stalk, insult, victimize, or intimidate another person or group of people.
- Harass, insult, tease, or correct other users about the grammar used in their posts. Good or bad grammar isn't the point-the forums are about getting questions answered.
- Post content depicting nudity of any sort, including full or partial photographic human nudity, or nudity in cartoons, fantasy art or manga.
- Post chain letters.
- Link to websites that require payment to access information.
- Post links to external sites that violate this Code of Conduct.

and willing consent.
