My mum is having difficulty moving to Outlook.com from Hotmail. They say she must change her password. Is it safe to do so?

As long as she typed "www.hotmail.com" or "www.outlook.com" into the address bar of her browser then anything that comes up asking her to change her password is probably legitimate.

However, if this is a link from an e-mail then it's probably best not to click it. Go to the site directly and change the password from the "Account settings" option on the menu you get from clicking on your user name.
