Drupal Answers is a question and answer site for Drupal developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Just like in the title. Would it be viable or are there some serious concerns about performance etc.? Do you know any file hosting services built with Drupal? Can you suggest an approach to optimizing Drupal for such a task?

The question is the title will be the subject off discussion, and is as such off-topic for the site. The question itself then contains three separate questions. Generic answer to a broad question: "Why not?" – Letharion Apr 16 at 9:26
I agree that this is somewhat broad question, but there is a lack of content about this topic in the internet, so I thought it would be at least very useful to ask it. I don't think it is unanswerable, it just needs an answer from guy with some experience on the topic. – Łukasz Zaroda Apr 16 at 9:53
I'm not arguing anything in your comment (except the sexism), I'm saying that the question you're asking isn't suitable to this website. – Letharion Apr 16 at 10:37
@ŁukaszZaroda Unfortunately as Letharion says, the fact you haven't found any information on the subject elsewhere doesn't automatically mean the question can be asked here. The FAQ is pretty solid on what type of questions can, and just as importantly, can't be asked. This one falls foul of 3 or 4 of the "don't ask" reasons I'm afraid. – Clive Apr 16 at 11:28
