Although largely outdated, people are still developing for 16-bit consoles. Are all of these games still programmed exclusively in assembly languages or do some use modern high level languages? This would include the 16-bit consoles like the SNES and Sega MegaDrive (Genesis).

Thanks in advance.

I think trivia questions are not a good fit for the topic of game development. See the FAQ, "You should only ask practical, answerable questions based on actual problems that you face". I think trivia questions are not based on actual problems you face. – Byte56 Mar 20 at 4:42

Maybe I should have rephrased my question to include if any modern languages were being used to develop on 16-bit platforms. For instance, take the game Pier Solar piersolar.com , was this developed strictly in 68k ASM? If other games are being presently made for 16-bit consoles what are they using? – jarrodparkes Mar 20 at 16:04
@jarrodparkes yes, you should. Phrase your questions clearly, so they don't look like asking something they were not intended to ask and get closed like this. – user1306322 Mar 20 at 17:15
