I want to store ths shapefile name in an attribute field using the field calculator and visual, but can't find the way to do it. Can anyone help me, please? Thanks!!!

do you have to use 9.3? Can you use ArcGIS 10.0? if the later, then have a a look at: gis.stackexchange.com/questions/32276/… & gis.stackexchange.com/questions/16998/… – Devdatta Tengshe Mar 19 at 11:11

@Juan SER. In 9.3 "field calculator" only supports VBA. Instead use the tool Calculate Field (Data Management) because this tool supports Python. Then you can use the Python code Devdatta Tengshe has proposed. – Jens Mar 19 at 12:32
