Colt ftec data centre, built using flexible technology so it suits your needs today and long into the future. Based on our modular philosophy with the addition of a number of new revolutionary features to allow you to adapt to the agile needs of modern business. Our response to customers demand for greater power, cooling and space flexibility throughout the life of the data centre. This new flexible technology allows you to upgrade capacity exactly when you need it in a live environment, eliminating the need for you to forecast long-term requirements safe in the knowledge that should your requirements change your data centre offers the agility to change alongside them. The flexibility of Colt ftec data centre is underpinned by an equally flexible commercial model, designed to meet your capex and opex requirements.

Available at your own site with the option to dial up or down capacity as you need it and own and run your data centre yourself, Colt ftec can also be made available at a Colt site through a service level agreement under an opex model, freeing up capital to be used on your core business.

A key issue in many data centres is while they are designed to be extremely efficient, most never achieve optimum efficiency. Target power efficiency is usually only achieved at high utilisation, however many data centres run for years below 50%. Colt coolflex allows you to optimise efficiency at any load, saving millions in energy costs over the lifetime of the data centre. Colt coolflex also supports Colt powerflex by adapting cooling in line with power usage.

• Colt cooling units operate in free cooling mode, switching to a high efficiency DX mode only when required

Your data centre can be deployed onsite and commissioned in just 16 weeks, including design, build, installation, training and handover. This, along with the flexibility to alter the power, cooling and space in the future, means the data centre planning cycle can fundamentally change. Capacity forecasting is currently applied to the useful life of the data centre, typically over 10-20 years. With Colt ftec, capacity planning can be closely aligned to business growth in 3-5 year increments. Furthermore, the useful life of the data centre can be considerably extended as the data centre flexes to future requirements.

We’ll work with you to ensure your data centre is an absolute fit for your business need, so you can be confident of getting the right level of capacity and power when and where you need it. What’s more, because we offer data centre space in a range of user-friendly blocks with a range of options, you’re free to create your own customised facility and build it from the ground up. Choose from 125, 250, 375 and 500 square metre units or multiples thereof. Then, either host them on your own premises, or at a Colt site as a data centre as a service.

We only work with those who have proven expertise in fields such as steel construction, data centre build expertise and other skills necessary to guarantee quality. We have ensured that there is an efficient supply-chain in place to enable components to be sourced quickly and cost-effectively for the production lines. The modular data centre, and the entire infrastructure it needs, is pre-assembled and pre-staged so as to reduce the need for on-site integration so you can be sure that it suits your needs before it even leaves the factory.
