stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight access, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. If your wiki has a bureaucrat, please use the relevant local request page instead.
This page is not intended for permissions debates; please only make a request here after gaining the approval of your local community. For urgent access requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, you may contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel (see also a web-based version). If you are in urgent need of assistance, and only in that situation, enter the command Requests for steward assistance which do not belong on this page include requests for bot status, spam whitelist/blacklist requests, and requests for CheckUser queries. When requesting permissions, please copy and paste the following boilerplate text, filling in the three required items (language code, link to local request, link to local userpage) as well as any other salient information. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request. Please only make requests here after gaining the approval of your local community. ==== Project name ==== I request sysop access on ''ps.wikipedia'': *'''Language Code:''' ps *'''Local Request Link:''' [[ps:Project:wikipedia]] *'''Local User Page:''' [[ps:User:waliachakzai]] Thank you. ~~~~ Quick navigation: Oversight | CheckUser | Admin | Bureaucrat | Removal of access | Temporary permissions | Username changes | Other requests Stewards: all requests presented here should be archived when fulfilled. |

Oversight requests
At present, this is only available on the English Wikipedia.
Note to Stewards: When you give someone Oversight, please list them on Hiding revisions. Thanks.
Note to those requesting Oversight: Do not initiate an Oversight request here; this is where the Arbitration Committee makes usergroup membership requests once they have agreed to give someone Oversight access. Thanks.
CheckUser requests
To ask for a steward to answer one of your requests, see Request for CheckUser information.
Note to Stewards: when someone ask a CheckUser status, please check the current policy of attribution of status before giving this status. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser. Thanks.
Any checkuser request made in a different section than this one will not be considered.
According to policy, there is no TEMPORARY status of checkuser. Either there are already checkuser on a project and these people must be asked to do the checkuser. Or there is nobody and a steward must do it. Giving a temporary status to anyone just simply asking it to a steward, with no agreement from the local community is against the checkuser status rules. Giving it with no request mentioned anywhere is even more problematic. Breaching these rules should imply removing the status of the steward if he can not be trusted to follow commonly accepted rules. If any one has a problem with this rule and wish that from now on, checkuser status be given to anyone without any community discussion, he must have the current rules changed, not breach them. Thanks Anthere 03:24, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Note: When giving someone checkuser, please (a) ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l and (b) email [email protected] so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list. (The list may contain confidential information.) - David Gerard 15:22, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
Apology: No-one's been adding new people to checkuser-l for a while. (Kelly Martin was but she's taking a longish break.) I'm going to try to clear the backlog this weekend. My sincere apologies for this, and I'll try to keep up with list requests in future. (It's really not a very interesting or active list, so you're not missing much ;-) - David Gerard 19:05, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

I request sysop bureaucrat access on fr.wikinews:

My local request on n:fr:Wikinews:Administrateur was positive. Thank you.--Divol 20:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm. You have got 3 votes in favor, 1 negative and 2 neutral. With those numbers I am not going to make you a bureacrat on fr.wikinews on my own. I see that notafish is active there. if she says that it ok to make you bureaucrat then I will do it. Otherwise you will need to get more support. --Walter 22:11, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- You'll have to explain that to me. Our rules (currently) are that bureaucrats/sysops are elected with 51%. So why ask notafish ? She has got no special rights on wikinews (except she is sysop, but that's a long story). Anyway, I don't get this. Faager 15:21, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- The main problem about wikinews is not whether it needs a bureaucrat or nor but if it will survive the dictatorship of Faager who has not created new entries for months but destroys with an apparent pleasure most of mines. Today, after I used not a single word of personal text but just paraphrasing sources in French, he had denied the right of publication of my article about w:Fabien Barthez retirement and I was even expelled from the French wikinews few hours later.

- Please Walter, be cautious about this so peculiar pico-wiki... Few weeks ago, two sysops were even talking seriously about a stewart ;-))) being nominated among them. Brilbot aka 82.224.88.52 19:25, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- And be cautious too about this user Brilbot aka Alencon aka Briling aka Quoinonne aka 82.224.88.52. He is a long-time troll blocked on the French-language Wikipedia who is now trolling on the French-language Wikinews... guillom 19:48, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- I blocked this troll for deletion of an article, as well as for many other vandalisms. Faager 14:00, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

- I agree that 82.224.88.52 is a kind of troll, with... sometimes, lost in insanity, some sane words ;D
- I agree with Walter : this vote doens't reflect the « strong support » from a « strong community » needed for a bureaucrat nomination. Alvaro 14:18, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
- And I second that. There is no "strong support" and more importantly, with 4/5 active users, I have reasons to doubt the need for a bureaucrat on fr:Wikinews altogether. However, Walter, it is your job, not mine to say whether you grant this access or not. I have nothing against Jacques as is, he has indeed, proved his attachment to the project and will probably be a good bureaucrat. I just believe that this election makes no sense and is a big joke. notafish }<';> 15:01, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

Removal of access
To request the another user's de-adminship, please gain consensus on your own wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When it is finished and there exists community consensus that the user should be de-adminned, a trusted person from that wiki should just provide a link here to the discussion and a very brief explanation of the reason for de-adminship and results of discussion.
- Do not begin or continue de-adminship discussions here.

Please, remove my sysop status on portuguese wiki. Thank you. --Daniduc 08:33, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes
Currently active temporary permissions may be found at /Approved temporary. Stewards, when granting, please copy the request to the appropriate place at /Approved temporary, and state clearly the date of removal. Do not archive granted requests until their expiration.
If you are requesting sysop status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki-project. That is a project for making a neutral MediaWiki translation that then will be default for all wikis. That is more useful than making only a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list of MediaWiki translation. See also MediaWiki localisation.Ne.Wikipedia
I'd like to request sysop access on Nepalese Wikipedia.

Recently created Wikipedias
Hello, I'm from the Incubator. Due to a recent wiki creating, I request a temporary adminship on these wikis to fix errors imported by TimStarling's Incubator import bot for a very short of time - three days should be enough. The wikis concerned are: wuu, mzn, new, eml, hsb, nov, pag, bar, bpy, diq, roa-tara, cbk-zam, zh-classical, cu, ru-sib, cdo. My username is Timichal on all these wikis. Thank you very much! — Timichal 18:08, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm still working on some of the wikis, I should be done today or tomorrow - so please don't desysop me yet :) Thanks. — Timichal 10:07, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I'm (finally) done, sorry for the delays. — Timichal 19:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
Miscellaneous requests
Namespace spelling change in bn-wiki
I'm a bureaucrat in Bengali wikipedia. We have reached a consensus there to change the spelling of the Wikipedia namespace, from উইকিপেডিয়া to উইকিপিডিয়া. How do we do that, and also migrate the existing WP namespace pages there, without breaking anything? Thanks. --Ragib 21:58, 13 September 2006 (UTC) en:User:Ragib / bn:User:Ragib.
- Check the localization page: m:MediaWiki localisation and follow the instructions there. You need to replace the corresponding namespace variable inside the LanguageBn.php file and submit again. Existing WP pages should be renamed automatically after the updated file goes live. --Dbl2010 05:47, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
Commons request for a delinker tool running in every wiki
Since any of the currently 701 Wikimedia Foundation wikis can link to Wikimedia Commons, Commons contributors and administrators need to take care upon modifying or deleting files. Up to now, MediaWiki only provides the embedding of files, and not the necessary bidirectional cross project maintenance assistance. In order to overcome these severe technical flaws - each one challenging the Wikimedia Commons project as a whole - passionate "Commonists" simply wrote the missing tools themselves. One essential tool is a file delinker bot that needs to run in every Wikimedia wiki and it is unreasonable to await approval by 701 different Wikimedia wiki communities. They all use Wikimedia Commons and Wikimedia Commons now needs to efficiently interact with them in return:
That for the administrators of Wikimedia Commons request to be exempt from local bot policies in order to run this bot.
Please read the full request with detailed information at Requests for permissions/CommonsDelinker and comment there.
Adding a new namespace to the Persian Wikisource
We need a new namespace in the Persian wikisource, corresponding the the "Author:" namespace in the English Wikisource. Would you please create such a namespace? The name of the namespace should be "مؤلف", a translation of "Author". Roozbeh 11:19, 30 September 2006 (UTC)
Username changes
jbo:User:sen → jbo:User:Sen
- Current name: jbo:User:sen
- Requested name: jbo:User:Sen
- Reason: This is my account on the Lojban Wikipedia. I am currently unable to log in, because of the initial lower-case letter. Our local bureaucrat on jbo.wikipedia receives an error when attempting to move the account. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you. Nat Krause 00:19, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- I have attempted to rename that account without success. If that account is really important I recommend to make a bugzilla:-ticket about this. If you wait maybe this can get fixt automatic with the single login migration. --Walter 13:49, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
- Rename done by Brion --Walter 20:28, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
