Webcam Recognized but no Image

Dear all,

So my Skype has been working fine for a long time until yesterday. Yesterday, when I tried to Skype my friend, my webcam light that indicates usage turned on, but Skype was unable to get an image. I checked Skype > Options to the graphics setting and it simply brought forth a blank screen with a white arrowing turning clockwise. Even after 5 minutes my webcam would not show anything. Please see my attached image. 

I know this isn't an issue with my webcam because even now,, my webcam can be used with other programs and with games. I just don't understand why it's not working in Skype only. It worked last week and I have no recollection of installing any new drivers. I did install Windows Update on the 13th but I really hope that wasn't the issue.

I have tried reinstalling Skype, reinstalling my webcam driver, to no avail. I am using a Dell XPS 15 with Windows 7 64 bit. Thank you!

There seems to be a general issue with the latest Skype versions and Dell XPS laptops.

Try to uninstall the currently installed version and install the older 6.1.0.129 version using this msi-installer:

After installing this version, make sure to disable the Automatic updates:

Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Automatic updates ->Turn off automatic updates

Thanks for the reply. Yeah it seems strange that this is happening with the Dell XPS 15 computers. Oh well. 

A little update: Even though the webcam is showing blank circles, my friend sent me a request for videocalling and I accepted and my webcam worked! So I guess Skype with Dell XPS 15 is an on and off thing. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't work the next time I videocall I will uninstall and try Skype 6.1 again. I will keep you updated.

Ok yep so I downgraded my Skype to 6.1 and webcam works again. Must be an issue with the current version of Skype and Dell computers. Hope you guys get it fixed soon!

Thank you.  The latest Skype version was also incompatible with my Dell XPS 17" L702X.  I really appreciate your help!  Trying to re-install the old version now.

almost two year my skype is perfect but this past week its not working perfectly...when i call my friend in ipad2 she recieved my images clearly but to me i recieved her images blurred...by the way sir/mam im using desktop and windows 7...hope you can help me with my problem...thank you

Hi.

Im using Acer Iconia Tablet with Android and webcam is on when i call, but no image. Works with my android HTC Cellphone. So it is not an android. Any help would be appreciated.
