That is a nice guestbook and very good explanation.
I was wondering if there is any possibility to create a guestbook that people can send comments and those comments can be stored in a database. Then when a comment stored in the database, I would receive an email that there is a comment has been added to the guestbook.
However, when the comment added by people into the database, the comment should be offline(inactive)(not live) and then I first read the comment via email and if it is appropriate comment then I can click a button to make the comment online (active)(live) .
