Installing the Filter Manager rollup package for Windows XP SP2

SYMPTOMS

The FsRtlCreateSectionForDataScan API is currently unavailable in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). Therefore, antivirus vendors frequently use the MmCreateSection API. However, Microsoft does not support this API.

You can install the Filter Manager rollup package to enable the FsRtlCreateSectionForDataScan API. This article describes how to install the Filter Manager rollup package for Windows XP SP2. The package includes the following:

Note If you reached this KB article while attempting to install Microsoft Security Essentials, you will need to install Service Pack 3 for Windows XP as Windows XP SP2 is not supported by Microsoft Security Essentials.
