Update your Java or Adobe product

Some threats exploit vulnerabilities in software. Microsoft security software can help protect you against these threats. However, you should also update your software to the latest version to help keep your computer secure.

The instructions below can help you update the following software:

  • Java

  • Adobe Reader and/or Adobe Acrobat

  • Adobe Flash Player

Java

To check for updates for Java:

  1. Tap or click Control Panel then Java.

  2. Go to the Updates tab and tap or click the Update now button.

Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat

  1. In the main menu bar tap or click Help

  2. Select Check for Updates

Adobe Flash Player

Adobe Flash Player automatically prompts you when new updates are available. If you want to manually update the version of Adobe Flash Player on your computer:

  1. Tap or click Control Panel then Flash

  2. Go to the Advanced tab and tap or click the Check now button:
