Sometimes it's handy to be able to see line numbers in your code so you can refer to particular lines by number. To turn on line numbering:

1. Open the Tools menu and select Options.
2. Expand the Options tree to go to Text Editor > All Languages > General.
3. In the Display section on the right, check the “Line numbers” box and then click OK.
