Will we be able to run sql server on Linux in future? :)

This should be great for open source developers on Linux!
The issue for commercial developers on iPhone and iPad is they also need to be able to commercially redistribute the ODBC driver inside their app through a third-party (Apple's AppStore), so they cannot legally use GPL/open-source code or DMCA-violating wire-level Sybase/Microsoft protocol hacks, even if they ask Apple to give their app away for free. They can use royalty-free client-side ODBC libraries that interact with SQLServer (and all other ODBC-compatible database servers like DB/2, MySQL, Oracle, etc..) via an ODBC ROUTER on a Microsoft Windows PC or VM.
But for Linux, this is amazing news, Raghu!

Why oh why would MS waste time making an ODBC driver for Linux?

Your links need fixing; they are outlook.com redirect links which erm, don't work
Thanks for the heads-up, JGurtz - we've fixed up the links in this post.
I wrote a blog post on getting this to work with Linux and PHP on RHEL 6 - as of the time I wrote it, I was unable to find any complete, functional guide on doing it.
