Get started with Surface Pro
Surface Pro is a laptop in tablet form.
There's much to explore when you get a new PC. Here are some things to help you get started:Touch, keyboard, mouse, and pen
With Surface Pro, you can easily switch between touch, keyboard, mouse, and pen.
- Touch. Like a smartphone, you can interact with Surface using touch. For example, drag your finger across the screen to scroll. For info on using touch, see Touch, swipe, and beyond.
- Keyboard. Surface has two keyboard options: Touch Cover and Type Cover (sold separately). You can also use a full-size USB or Bluetooth keyboard if you’d like.
- Mouse. You can use the trackpad on Touch Cover or Type Cover, or connect a USB or Bluetooth mouse. See the Connect Devices section below for more about this.
- Pen. Take notes, draw, and mark up documents using the digital pen that’s included with Surface Pro.
Getting around
The Start screen is your home base, and you can customize it so it’s just the way you want it. Each tile on Start is connected to a person, app, website, playlist, or whatever else is important to you. Tap a tile to open it.
To go to the Start screen:
- Touch. Press the Windows logo button
on Surface, or swipe in from the right edge of the screen and then tap Start.
- Keyboard. Press the Windows logo
key.
- Mouse or trackpad. Move the pointer into the lower-left corner. When Start appears, click in the corner.
