Last week one of Colt’s security experts received the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) Ron Knode Service Award. The award recognises excellence in volunteerism and was created in memory of Ron Knode’s valuable contributions towards fulfilling the CSA's mission of promoting best practice for providing security assurance within Cloud Computing.

Bernd Jger Security Architect & Consultant Strategy & Architecture, Colt Technology Services and co-chair on the Telecom Working Group of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA).

Bernd Jaeger, one of Colt’s leading security experts and a member of the CSA, was one of two award winners from the EMEA region. Bernd is our Security Architect & Consultant – Strategy & Architecture and is a co-chair on the Telecom Working Group of the CSA. He is currently working on research papers regarding security information and event management (SIEM) solutions, Forensics and ISO 27017 adoption. He also serves on the steering committee of the SecaaS Working Group, aiming to provide the industry with greater clarity in the area of Security as a Service.

Ron Knode was an information security expert and member of the Cloud Security Alliance family who passed away on May 31, 2012. An innovative thinker and author of the CSA Cloud Trust Protocol, Ron was a cherished member of CSA, with endless energy and humour to guide his volunteer contributions. In Ron's memory, the Cloud Security Alliance established the Ron Knode Service Award, which will be awarded on an annual basis. This year's recipients reflect Ron's passion for volunteerism and embody the spirit for which this award was established.

“Volunteering” for cloud adoption

With the CSA award, we also see recognition of Colt’s ‘volunteer’ culture – Bernd stepped up to provide support for important work in making cloud computing more secure. Congratulations Bernd – well deserved. Also congratulations to Kevin Fielder, Senior Systems Architect with Canada Life in EMEA who received the award for co-chairing the SecaaS Working Group.
