Quick regex to regex object constructor in Javascript [duplicate]

and it works fine. I need to add an user defined parameter to the pattern, so I tried:

Without adding the parameter there is an error:

SyntaxError: invalid quantifier

How do I fix this error?

If you create a RegExp object with a string, you have to doubly escape backslashes. Basically, you need to take every \ and make it \\.
