Julia Yaziji Feb 21 • Using Paper.li / What's New!
We've completely streamlined the look of paper.li, making our site more mobile-device-friendly and implementing slide navigation accessible from your paper's front page.
If you're a publisher who has been with us for some time, you are most likely very familiar with the old menu and settings. Our new side-menus might require some extra exploring on your part. But once you've found your way around, we're confident you'll find the new menus cleaner and easier to navigate across devices, with easy access to the help articles you need -- just a click away.

Consider this article your "map" to explore and discover our new menus: the new main menu (top left) and once signed into a paper, your Paper Settings Dashboard (top right). |
Signing in via the new main menu icon
Clicking the top left main menu icon, shown below, gives you a sign in option, as well as other important links.
From here, you can sign in, using either your Facebook or Twitter sign on credentials. Once you have signed in, you now have access to:

Pro publishers: see no icon at all at the top of your paper? If you have your custom header turned ON, don't forget you will need to press ESC on your keyboard (as you did before) to view your menu! |
New paper.li layout: our clean new look!
Attention Pro Publishers!*
On March 4, all papers will show the new navigation menus but Pro papers won't immediately see the new changes to their paper layout. Why? Because although we've done our best to ensure that the new layout will have minimal impact to Pro users who have customized their papers, it is possible that our changes may require publishers to modify their CSS or any other customizations.
With that in mind, we've given Pro users a 30 day head-start to fix any issues they see before we "flip the switch" and change all papers, both Pro and basic, to the new layout on April 4.
If you're a publisher of a Pro paper, you can preview how your paper will look with the new layout, offline. If after viewing your paper in "preview mode", you are satisfied with the new layout and want to make the switch immediately, you can manually switch to the new layout.
If however, after previewing your paper in the new layout, you see customizations that need modification, you can make changes offline and manually switch to the new layout up to the April 4 deadline.
On April 4, all papers will be switched to the new layout.
Previewing your Pro paper (without custom domain)
From your Paper Settings Dashboard, click Layout & appearance, then Look & feel.
Previewing your Pro paper (with custom domain)
From your Paper Settings Dashboard, click Layout & appearance, then Look & feel, then Switch to new look and feel.
* The above applies only to Pro publishers with Pro papers started prior to the launch on March 4. On April 4, all Pro papers will be switched to the new layout.

Switch to new layout for Pro papers with subscriptions that began before 4 March
We've just released a new version of Paper.li! While all basic (free) papers will reflect the new navigation menus and new look and feel, these changes won't be immediately reflected on Pro papers.
Why is this?
Although we've taken care to ensure that the new layout will have minimal impact to Pro users who have customized their papers, it is possible that changes made for the new version of Paper.li may require publishers to modify their CSS and/or any other customizations.
With that in mind, we are giving Pro users* 30 days to check papers and make any adjustments that might be needed before we "flip the switch" and change all Pro papers to the new layout on April 4.
While we don't believe you'll need to make any (or many!) adjustments to your paper we have equipped you with what you need to make adjustments if necessary.
If after viewing your paper in "preview mode", you are satisfied with the new layout and want to make the switch immediately, you can manually switch to the new layout.
If however, after previewing your paper in the new layout, you see some of your customizations need a little modification, you can make changes offline and manually switch to the new layout up to the April 4 deadline. Keep on reading for details below....

We really enjoy hearing from our community and always look forward to reading your comments.

Tips on making a comment or asking for help
New to commenting or not sure how to most effectively make your point? Here are a few tips to help you out when commenting on an article, reporting an issue and leaving comments in general.
1. Be specific
Let us know why you are contacting us or what compelled you to comment
Technical issues: To quote publisher Mike Lazarus "Taking your car to the garage and saying it doesn't work isn't really helpful." Be specific!
2. Stay on topic
Regardless if you are browsing articles, posts, or FB entries, it is always good practice to keep questions and conversations organized. If you see a post about content streams and you have a question about customization, start a new request or take a look to see if you can jump in on a conversation that is already taking place. It becomes confusing for everyone to jump from topic to topic. And it makes it easier to find you and make sure your comments, questions and requests are promptly answered.
3. Be Nice
Nobody is perfect and we can all have "one of those " days. Even so, it is never appropriate to use insults or offensive language in the Paper.li community.
Even when you don't agree with publishing peers' opinions, a new feature that we've rolled out, support response times, blog posts or the way the wind is blowing today... disrespectful comments won't improve the situation.
Praise, kudos, comments -- they are all welcome, and criticism is too, as long as it is constructive. Please note: Rude, incendiary comments in the forum, as comments on a blog, on FB or Twitter that do not lend to fruitful conversation will be removed, disregarded or simply ignored.
