Fine tune your sources! Source priority matters

How your source priority determines what appears in your paper

When you added your sources, you probably didn't pay much attention to the order in which you added them.  However, source priority matters!  Content that appears on papers is prioritized by content source using the following logic:

First Priority Source

We will always attempt to fill the Featured Article of the Day and the Headline Articles with content fetched from your first priority source.

In addition, we will attempt to fill any open 'position' with articles fetched from the first priority source, discarding any articles that don't match the filters you entered or the Paper Sections you have chosen to include.

Remaining content sources

If there is not enough content from the first content source to populate open article positions, we will move to your second position source for stories. And so on, until all of your articles have been placed.

Amount of content fetched

We go back and fetch all tweets and content specified in your content sources, discard any duplicate URLs, URLs from private accounts or links that are broken, then analyze, organize and present the most relevant content (based on the top--max. 6--most relevant topics), video and photo excluded. To keep discovery relevant, we limit content to 250 articles, 100 images and 50 videos per paper.

Re-prioritizing your sources

If there's a source towards the top of your list that is dominating your paper because of the large amount of content shared, try moving the source down your prioritized list of sources and moving more "niche" sources with less content to the top. Getting just the right mix and variety of content may take some experimenting.

To re-prioritize a source, move your mouse over the source icon until you see the drag/drop icon Screen_Shot_2014-02-18_at_10.28.22_PM.png and click and drag the source up/down to a new position.   You can then click the Screen_Shot_2014-02-18_at_10.42.01_PM.png button in your your Paper Settings Dashboard to view the changes.  Screen Shot 2013-12-18 at 7.51.43 AM.png Note however, that the "Fetch new content" button creates a new version of your paper. If you have made any editing changes (using the bookmarklet or deleting articles), these changes will be erased.
