Still no custom ads?

First, I applaud the organizers of this site for a very creative and powerful tool.

However, I have major concerns.

In April the people behind this site promised they were working "diligently" on letting us put our own ads on our papers.

It is now almost 2012.

I submit that is not very diligently and for us to invest time and energy in promoting and using this feature when they get the ad revenue is exploitive and simply wrong.

I'm betting this post is removed and closed because I am sure this is a major issue that many others would like addressed.

Hi all,

thank you for your patience in the last months! As you all may know already, custom ads are now available with our new Pro feature. Currently, you can test this functionality for free with our 14 day Pro trial (ends 4th of December). We hope you like it!
Malcolm Oakley, there is still no decision taken yet regarding Google AdSense. So the answer is neither "yes" or "no" for the moment, I am sorry. It is still on our list, but we are also still a small team. Thank you for your understanding.

Since the ad request is "done" now, I will close this ticket for further comments. Thank you all for your understanding,

best regards,

Birgit

20th November 2012 and still NO Google Adsense is allowed. It's not going to happen is it? Be honest now.

Paper.li

Hi all,

We are currently working on premium features that will allow publishers to switch off, or replace advertisements with their own. Along with the ability to control advertising, publishers will also be able to control their notifications; the ability to send out email and promotional tweets after the paper has been edited.

It shouldn't be long now.

As part of a response to me regarding a recent trouble ticket I submitted I was told that the Preview option, where we could edit prior to publishing was a feature you all are working on for your upcoming Premium model.

I would like to know if that same Preview option where we would have the ability to edit and make changes to our Daily paper prior to it publishing will also be an available feature for the Free edition of the Daily papers.

A bit concerned that papr.li is looking at what I'm reading online and then putting THAT as an ad. I feel I'm being watched. I used do not track to stop this happening, but I still have ads for products that must have come from something I've read. How do I get rid of this?

How about the option of picking amongst serveral tiers of service:

  - FREE:  Current product with other's paid ads

  - PREMIUM 1 : $5.99/month.  No ads at all

  - PREMIUM 2:  $9.99/month.  Your own ads

  - PREMIUM 3:  $19.99/month.  You get to sell & place the ads of others that you acquire

The premium tiers could be rolled out as available.  Premium 1 and Premium 2 should be ready in a couple weeks (or sooner, since this has supposedly been worked on for over a year now).

The solution is simple paper.li. offer in the interim a Premium account, charge a monthly fee of $19.95 for your service. Win win. You have a lovely product don't try and get it perfect, just get it out :)

To my surprise my primary competitor's ad appears prominently on my newspaper, not only totally eliminating the value of my newspaper, but actually creating value for my competitor at my expense.  Why would I publish a newspaper for my prospects and customers that promotes my primary competitor?????

Dear Clare,

thank you for your detailed questions and please excuse the delay of my response.

It is true we had assumed we could deploy custom ads earlier to our users. But unfortunately we are still not ready. This is also the reason why I cannot answer your questions such detailed. I am sorry that I do not have better news for your today. Please believe me when I say that the entire team would rather sooner than later see this option deployed. But we are still a small team and therefore ask again for your patience and understanding.

Thank you in advance and best regards,

Birgit

Birgit & the Paper.li team

We're considering using Paper.li as a tool to deliver a daily out to our customers but I'd really rather not commit fully to it until we know:

1. How we get rid of the ads which appear by default?
2. What options will be available for the location of the ads?
3. What will be the rates on 'premium service' subscriptions?

Appreciate you have that forum in your 'Planned Features' section, but you've closed that forum & there's still no date for the availability of the functionality & supporting rate card?

It's now March 2012 :o)

What time frame are you looking at for a press release on the rate card & functionality?

Thanks

Clare

Dear Mike and Mukesh Gupta,

Thank your for your comments.

In fact, many, many Paper.li users wait for the solution to see their own ads published in the newspapers (please view also the forum http://support.paper.li/entries/504094-advertisement-replace-advert... in our "Planned Features" section).

As we have said in various other forums, we are working on a premium version of Paper.li to make this work. Good things take time and will be well thought out. It is planned for early 2012. Therefore I have to continue to ask you for your patience, I am sorry.

Best regards,

Birgit

I agree. Until the feature is available, why not share revenue with the publishers?
