Merry Christmas from Netherlands 3

From end of year reports to roasted turkeys, December is the time of the year to reflect back on both your professional and personal achievements. Therefore, in a very traditional fashion, we look back at the year and at all that we can celebrate during this festive season.

One of our proudest achievements this year was the launch of our Netherlands 3 data centre in Roosendaal. This state-of-the-art data centre has already received several accreditations which is remarkable in such a short space of time. With energy saving at the heart of its design, it resulted in a requirement of just an additional 21% of energy on top of the customer IT load to operate the site. This ISO 27001 certified data centre also received the stamp of approval for Management and Operational Excellence from the Uptime Institute. To add to the triumphs, our Netherlands 3 data centre also bagged the Data Centre Dynamics Awards for ‘Innovation in a medium Data Centre’ last week.

Throughout the year, we have seen this data centre excel in every test and audit. It has played host to several data centre tours and events. Welcoming 8,500 visitors in total during the first 11 months of its operation, all with very strict security controls in place of course.

Last month Roosendaal witnessed an event to mark the completion of our 1,000m2 data centre expansion. Amongst those celebrating our success with us was the Mayor of Roosendaal, Jacques Niederer. During his speech he rightly pointed out that Colt selected Roosendaal due to its favourable location. Our Netherlands 3 facility is located at an intersection of major roads, railways, underground pipelines and is easily accessible through the major ports such as the Port of Rotterdam, the Port of Antwerp and Schiphol Airport. With the fast technological advancements in the south-eastern Brabant region, this key location equips us to keep up with the increasing demand.
