Embedding about.me in a WordPress.org Theme

About.me offers an easy way to embed your about.me page in your self-hosted WordPress.org blogs. For example:

Follow these steps to embed your about.me page in your blog:

  1. First, download the about.me plugin from http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/aboutme-widget/installation/.
  2. Log in to your blog.

  3. On your blog's dashboard, select the Plugins -> Add New menu.

  4. Click on Upload and choose the aboutme-widget zip file. Then click on Install Now. 

  5. Click on Activate Plugin.  

  6. Go to the Appearance -> Widgets menu. 

  7. Drag the About.me Widget to the Main Sidebar or one of the Footer areas.

Configuring Your about.me Embed

Follow these steps to configure your about.me embed:

  1. Expand the Widget dialog by clicking on the triangle in the upper right corner.
  2. Add your about.me username, minus the http://about.me/. 
    Your username is the end of your about.me URL (http://about.me/username). 
  3. Optionally, you can also:

    • Change the title
    • Set your photo to your background image, bio photo, or none
    • Set your name size
    • Exclude your headline
    • Exclude your biography
    • Exclude your apps
