Christmas and New Year is a time for families and loved ones. It is a time to reflect on the year gone by, as well as looking forward to what 2014 will bring. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Colt community for our achievements in 2013 and wish you all a happy holiday season.

In the last year we helped our customers perform better by removing the complexity around delivering and integrating network, data centre and IT services. For example, we underpinned Nectar Italia’s rapidly expanding loyalty scheme, freed home improvement leader Leroy Merlin to focus on business transformation, and enabled Sky to improve the efficiency of its network economics without any compromise on quality.

Colt also expanded in Asia by joining together with KVH, extending our enterprise class cloud services to Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore. The launch of Colt Ceano provided our channel partners with a portfolio of on-demand ICT services for SME customers. Moreover, we extended our data centre presence, including the launch of our carrier neutral facility in the south of the Netherlands.

We are also honoured by the recognition we received from the industry in the past year. Gartner listed Colt as the highest on the ‘ability to execute’ axis for managed hosting across Europe, in the first Magic Quadrant for European Managed Hosting. The London Evening Standard helped us celebrate our roots in the financial industry with an article titled: Capital’s best-kept secret: Super-fast pipes powering a data revolution, while Colt’s energy-efficiency programme across its twenty data centres grabbed the attention of the Financial Times.

On the awards front, the end of the year has given us many reasons to celebrate. Colt was awarded the MEF Carrier Ethernet awards for the ninth year consecutively, two Data Centre Dynamics awards, the Best pan-European Wholesale carrier award from Capacity, and the prestigious Spanish Communicaciones Hoy award.

Moreover, we feel 2013 has been a year to be proud of, due to the impact we have been able to make on our local communities. It was a record year for Colt’s CSR programme with over 80,000 Euros donated to charities supporting vulnerable children in the areas where we operate.
