Badges are an achievement system that showcase your contribution within the Microsoft Dynamics Community and you earn badges as you complete specific activities such as answering forum questions, writing blog articles, etc.  The badges you've earned are displayed on your profile, with the higher-value badges displayed on your forum posts and blog articles to showcase your credibility.

Earn badges

Many badges are awarded in near-real time.  If you're signed-in when you receive a badge, a live "toast" popup notification will appear in the bottom-right of the site instantly alerting you, as well as an email notification.  There are 4 types of badges:

Specific badges -- Complete activities such as filling out specific fields in your profile or change your avatar image and you'll earn a badge.

Tiered badges -- As you continue to complete certain activities such as writing blog articles or answering forum questions you can earn higher tiered badges.  For example, you can earn the Troubleshooter 1 badge for responding to a forum question with a suggested answer 3 times and then earn Troubleshooter 2 when you reach 25 suggested answers.  When you earn a higher-tiered badge, you lose the previous badge.

Level badges -- As you complete specific activities in the Microsoft Dynamics Community you earn "points" and level badges are awarded when you reach specific point values.

Special badges -- Perform above-and-beyond to earn special awards, such as the product-specific Microsoft Community Contributor badge, which is awarded to the top 5 members with the most verified answers within each product forum.

Track your progress

You can track your progress via the "Badges and Leaderboards" menu available in the upper-right navigation, which provides you a dashboard to track your progress on the Troubleshooter, Problem Solver, and Level badges.  It also provides quick navigation to the Badges tab of your profile page, where you can view all the badges you've earned.

Showcase your credibility

As you earn badges, they are displayed on the Badges tab of your profile for all members to see.  The following higher-valued badges are displayed on your forum posts and blog articles to showcase your credibility as other members read your content:
Forums -- Problem Solver badges, Troubleshooter badges, Level badges, Postaholic, Microsoft Community Contributor, MVP, and Moderator
Blogs -- Blogger badges, Level badges, Postaholic, Microsoft Community Contributor, MVP, and Moderator
