Nokia Lumia platform overview
Nokia Lumia: Signature experiences
Our vision at Nokia is about creating great mobile products that sense the world, adapt to users, and make life easier. And together with Microsoft, our brand partners, and developers, we’re building relevant offerings for consumers in all corners of the world.
Nokia Lumia phones run the Microsoft Windows Phone operating system — the most differentiated mobile software platform out there. Windows Phone enables us to push the envelope of innovation while providing consistency and safety for consumers. Nokia Lumia has quickly established itself as the leader in the Windows Phone device market. To extend this leadership position, we’re focusing on five key areas: design, imaging, context, entertainment, and location.
What’s more, we’ve entered a new phase of convergence with the introduction of a tablet, the Nokia Lumia 2520. This convergence ensures that consumers can enjoy and cross-use Nokia-differentiating experiences on all Lumia devices and accessories in the most convenient way. Here are some great examples of our achievements in our areas of focus:
Design
We have won several design and innovation awards for our Lumia smartphones. Here’s just a sampling:
- Red Dot Award 2013: Product Design — Nokia Lumia 620 and 820
- Best Budget Smartphone of Mobile World Congress 2013 (Laptop Magazine) — Nokia Lumia 520
- iF award for outstanding design 2012 — Nokia Lumia 920
Imaging
We were first to deliver optical image stabilisation in a smartphone and a 41-megapixel sensor with high-resolution zoom, originally on Symbian and then on Windows Phone. We also deliver leading low-light-imaging capabilities and an easy-to-use camera app for capturing literally more than the eye can see.
Context
With the new portfolio of context-aware Nokia Lumia devices, enabled by Nokia SensorCore technology, we’re empowering consumers to get more out of their lives with mobile data.
Entertainment
The Nokia MixRadio music-streaming service boasts a catalogue that’s both deep and wide. The free service is a leader in several large markets, including India.
Location
HERE Maps is the platform of choice for many automotive-map apps, Microsoft Bing maps, and, of course, every Nokia product with Windows Phone, where it’s coupled with developer-friendly APIs.
