How to launch multiple instances of a program in parallel using parallel?

Question

I would like to execute a command:

curl example.com

multiple times in parallel using GNU parallel. I tried:

parallel -j 3 curl example.com

but it doesn't work.

How many times is "multiple times" ? man parallel, scroll down to examples > Run the same command 10 times in parallel — don_crissti, Oct 16 '14 at 11:11
