I am loading a jQuery DataTable into a SharePoint 2013 page via the XML Viewer Web Part or Script Editor Web Part. Because it is within an intranet, I don't have the exact code/a demo to provide, but this works as intended by being 100% of a page and adding a scroll bar within the datatable if the non-wrapped text extends beyond 100% in a regular HTML page outside of SharePoint:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>

<link href="http://datatables.net/download/build/nightly/jquery.dataTables.css" rel="stylesheet" />

</table>
</div>
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
var table = $('#example').DataTable({
scrollX: true
});
new $.fn.dataTable.FixedColumns(table);
});
</script>
However, within SharePoint, if I put this within a Script Editor Web Part or load an external file via the XML Viewer Web Part and set the width to at 100%, the scrolling of the table will not work. It causes the datatable to stretch beyond the page, and the browser has a bottom scroll bar. If I apply a fixed width (ex. 1000px), the scrolling within the datatable works.
Have others attempting to use jQuery DataTables within SharePoint, and if so, how did you load your table in? The data in my table is dynamically populated via a REST call.
