Events

Records various events that occur around an issue or pull request. This is useful both for display on issue/pull request information pages and also to determine who should be notified of comments.

Events

Name Description
added_to_project The issue was added to a project board. You only see this event in responses when project boards have been enabled in the repository.
assigned The issue was assigned to the actor.
closed The issue was closed by the actor. When the commit_id is present, it identifies the commit that closed the issue using "closes / fixes #NN" syntax.
converted_note_to_issue The issue was created by converting a note in a project board to an issue. You only see this event in responses when project boards have been enabled in the repository.
demilestoned The issue was removed from a milestone.
head_ref_deleted The pull request's branch was deleted.
head_ref_restored The pull request's branch was restored.
labeled A label was added to the issue.
locked The issue was locked by the actor.
mentioned The actor was @mentioned in an issue body.
marked_as_duplicate A user with write permissions marked an issue as a duplicate of another issue or a pull request as a duplicate of another pull request.
merged The issue was merged by the actor. The commit_id attribute is the SHA1 of the HEAD commit that was merged.
milestoned The issue was added to a milestone.
moved_columns_in_project The issue was moved between columns in a project board. You only see this event in responses when project boards have been enabled in the repository.
referenced The issue was referenced from a commit message. The commit_id attribute is the commit SHA1 of where that happened.
removed_from_project The issue was removed from a project board. You only see this event in responses when project boards have been enabled in the repository.
renamed The issue title was changed.
reopened The issue was reopened by the actor.
review_dismissed The actor dismissed a review from the pull request.
review_requested The actor requested review from the subject on this pull request.
review_request_removed The actor removed the review request for the subject on this pull request.
subscribed The actor subscribed to receive notifications for an issue.
transferred The issue was transferred to another repository.
unassigned The actor was unassigned from the issue.
unlabeled A label was removed from the issue.
unlocked The issue was unlocked by the actor.
unmarked_as_duplicate An issue that a user had previously marked as a duplicate of another issue is no longer considered a duplicate, or a pull request that a user had previously marked as a duplicate of another pull request is no longer considered a duplicate.
user_blocked An organization owner blocked a user from the organization. This was done through one of the blocked user's comments on the issue.

Attributes

Name Type Description
actor object The person who generated the event.
assignee object The person assigned to (or unassigned from) this issue. Only provided for assigned and unassigned events.
assignees array An a array of people who are assigned to (or unassigned from) this issue. Only provided for assigned and unassigned events.
assigner object The person who performed the assignment (or unassignment) for this issue. Only provided for assigned and unassigned events.
commit_id string The string SHA of the commit that referenced this issue.
commit_url string The GitHub API link to a commit that referenced this issue.
created_at string The timestamp indicating when the event occurred.
dismissed_review object A dismissed_review object that includes the state, review_id, dismissal_message, and dismissal_commit_id (the ID of the commit that dismissed the review) if one exists. Possible state strings include commented, approved, or changes_requested. Only provided for review_dismissed events.
event string Identifies the actual type of event that occurred.
id integer The ID of the event.
labels array An array of labels. Each label includes a name and color attribute. Only provided for labeled and unlabeled events.
lock_reason string The reason an issue or pull request conversation was locked, if one was provided. Only provided for locked events.
milestone object The Milestone object including a title attribute. Only provided for milestoned and demilestoned events.
node_id string The Global Node ID of the event.
project_card object Information about the project card that triggered the event. The project_card attribute is not returned if someone deletes the project board, or if you do not have permission to view it. Note: The project_card object is part of the starfox-preview, and will only be included when you pass the custom media type.
project_card["id"] string The identification number of the project card.
project_card["url"] string The API URL of the project card, if the card still exists. Not included for removed_from_project events.
project_card["project_id"] integer The identification number of the project.
project_card["project_url"] string The API URL of the project.
project_card["column_name"] string The name of the column that the card is listed in.
project_card["previous_column_name"] string The name of the column that the card was listed in prior to column_name. Only returned for moved_columns_in_project events.
rename object The rename details including from and to attributes. Only provided for renamed events.
requested_reviewers object The people who were requested to review an issue. Only provided for review_requested and review_request_removed events.
review_requester object The person who requested a review. Only provided for review_requested and review_request_removed events.
url string The API URL for fetching the event.

To receive the project_card attribute, project boards must be enabled for a repository, and you must provide a custom media type in the Accept header:
