At the CNN town hall in Pennsylvania, host Anderson Cooper challenged Joe Biden by asking if taking action on the climate crisis but not banning fracking is “having it both ways.” The Democratic presidential nominee said “fracking has to continue because we need a transition.” Biden added that, although he aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, there is “no rational to eliminate [fracking] right now.” While he does not support a ban on fracking, Biden does want to stop the federal government issuing new drilling permits on public land.
