    Good that is looking into NYPD's actions but as pointed out, he did promise to do that back in June, it's now October. We'll be following up with his office to get more clarification. He said it's being independently reviewed but it shouldn't take that long

    My colleague on how limiting the scope of policing and redirecting resources to social services, affordable housing, equitable education, and economic development is a type of reparative justice that should happen alongside other forms of reparations

    The US isn't the only country whose police has needed to be drastically reformed. reminds us that the UN has a toolkit for just this for post-conflict countries and that defunding the police can—and should!—be a form of reparative justice:
