    in life news, I finally replaced our automatic with a proper beginner's espresso machine last week and it's super enjoyable ☕ (no, latte art isn't quite on my to-do list yet 😂)

    Just released jotai v1.2.1. We just released v1.2.0 yesterday, and got suggested that atomWithObservable can be generalized by 👍. Now, it's library agnostic. This util is still experimental and looking for contributors.

    This is a fantastic article! I love the nuance and exploration of tradeoffs here. Components fall on an "axis of reusability", not a hard line. Highly recommended reading! I covered related thoughts on components, hooks, and reusability in a talk + post:

    Presentational and Stateful components?! this doesn't come up in React that often anymore, but did you know we can still apply this idea to improve our React codebases, and spot problems early? 💡😮 This is a post I wanted to publish for a long time! 💕

    an amazing article by , "making state global without react's context api": this should end all discussion as to using context for app state or not (sadly it won't). they also create a mini zustand to teach the concept.

    💥 Excited to announce... I wrote a book! A lot of engineering leaders worked to be best engineer they could be… and then we were promoted. It's tough to transition roles. I wrote the book I wish I had when I started leading teams.

    Am I going crazy? A bit inspired by , my latest experiment is to run full jotai app without react. No reconciliation, just atomic updates. Spent a couple of hours to create a PoC. It's very new field for me. Any insights?
