Dear Twitter, I am once again asking for your favorite documentation sites – any oldie but goodies? Any new kids on the block worth sharing?

Dear Twitter, Does anyone have any favorite documentation sites that you genuinely liked using? I would love to see some all ⭐️ examples, especially for non-high-technical users, and ones that you like as a reader (not an author 😉).

Please always start your open source presentation by stating what problem, exactly, you’re solving. I’ve been walked through examples, documentation, output illustrations, and GitHub repos and still don’t know what problem the tool is really solving.

I think one of the most anti-authoritarian influences in my life has been using & contributing to open source software. It’s hard to overstate the power of watching amazing things built under emergent decentralized systems without top down strong leadership.

In what will surely go down as one of the most significant technical achievements in transport geo, my first-ever pull request to implement the exp() function in arrow-R was just accepted on GitHub 🤣🤓🤣 Neg exp impedance/accessibility for >-than-RAM od matrices incoming 💪😎

And at a more general level, if you're an user who is interested in getting involved with the project but not sure where to start, check out this talk by my colleague, Alenka Frim, on the New Contributor's Guide 😁

Yesterday I had the opportunity to teach a "Larger-Than-Memory Data Workflows with Apache Arrow" tutorial at #useR2022 with my wonderful colleagues and . If you're curious, there's also a written tutorial and slide deck online! 😁

Spotted this fantastic piece of Squid Game / Manchester themed graffiti out of the window of today's coworking location 😍

One day I'll learn to switch off the bit of my brain that tries to force me to work my hours between 9 and 5 at a desk on one place, even though that's not where or when I'm most productive or happy! 😬 Like FFS, my job is super flexible but I am the worst boss of me. Any tips?

I'm excited to write in detail about this in the coming weeks, but the teaser version is that #rstats geoarrow 🌏 will (1) make the arrow 📦 "just work" with spatial data and (2) make working with big files faster/multi-file datasets possible!

Skipping the coworking spaces this morning & working from Manchester Central Library. The reading room is gorgeous but the acoustic effects mean that every whisper is reflected off the dome, and feels a bit like you're having auditory hallucinations. Good fun, though super weird!

This weekend I moved to Manchester temporarily, where I'll be for the next month to see if I fancy properly moving there longer term. Would love to make some more connections in the city, so if any #rstats folks in the area fancy a coffee (or beer!) some time, give me a shout!
