The project was started by Pedro Piñera in 2017, together with some other open source projects Tuist is built upon. Since then, Tuist has empowered several projects and organizations that faced the struggles and cumbersomeness of using Xcode at scale.</p>
<p>Tuist is a fully-featured tool for Xcoders. It abstracts intricacies of Xcode projects to let you focus on coding your apps for Apple platforms. It’s entirely written in Swift, and thoroughly tested for your projects to safely rely on it.</p>
<p>Tuist is here to stay, and our team of Core maintainers is working hard to ensure that it does. However, nobody is currently being paid for this work, meaning that everybody here dedicated a big chunk of their free time towards making sure that Tuist is the best it's ever been. We have lofty goals, so anything would help to keep us going!</p>
<p>In the future, we would also like to work on other things that will improve the Tuist ecosystem. Here's a couple of ideas:</p>

<p>The Tor Project, Inc, became a 501(c)3 nonprofit in 2006, but the idea of "onion routing" began in the mid 1990s.</p>
<p>Just like Tor users, the developers, researchers, and founders who've made Tor possible are a diverse group of people. But all of the people who have been involved in Tor are united by a common belief: internet users should have private access to an uncensored web.</p>
<p>In the 1990s, the lack of security on the internet and its ability to be used for tracking and surveillance was becoming clear, and in 1995, David Goldschlag, Mike Reed, and Paul Syverson at the U.S. Naval Research Lab (NRL) asked themselves if there was a way to create internet connections that don't reveal who is talking to whom, even to someone monitoring the network. Their answer was to create and deploy the first research designs and prototypes of onion routing.</p>
<p>The goal of onion routing was to have a way to use the internet with as much privacy as possible, and the idea was to route traffic through multiple servers and encrypt it each step of the way. This is still a simple explanation for how Tor works today.</p>
<p>In the early 2000s, Roger Dingledine, a recent Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) graduate, began working on an NRL onion routing project with Paul Syverson. To distinguish this original work at NRL from other onion routing efforts that were starting to pop up elsewhere, Roger called the project Tor, which stood for The Onion Routing. Nick Mathewson, a classmate of Roger's at MIT, joined the project soon after.</p>
<p>From its inception in the 1990s, onion routing was conceived to rely on a decentralized network. The network needed to be operated by entities with diverse interests and trust assumptions, and the software needed to be free and open to maximize transparency and separation. That's why in October 2002 when the Tor network was initially deployed, its code was released under a free and open software license. By the end of 2003, the network had about a dozen volunteer nodes, mostly in the U.S., plus one in Germany.</p>
<p>Recognizing the benefit of Tor to digital rights, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) began funding Roger's and Nick's work on Tor in 2004. In 2006, the Tor Project, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was founded to maintain Tor's development.</p>
<p>In 2007, the organization began developing bridges to the Tor network to address censorship, such as the need to get around government firewalls, in order for its users to access the open web.</p>
<p>Tor began gaining popularity among activists and tech-savvy users interested in privacy, but it was still difficult for less-technically savvy people to use, so starting in 2005, development of tools beyond just the Tor proxy began. Development of Tor Browser began in 2008.</p>
<p>With Tor Browser having made Tor more accessible to everyday internet users and activists, Tor was an instrumental tool during the Arab Spring beginning in late 2010. It not only protected people's identity online but also allowed them to access critical resources, social media, and websites which were blocked.</p>
<p>The need for tools safeguarding against mass surveillance became a mainstream concern thanks to the Snowden revelations in 2013. Not only was Tor instrumental to Snowden's whistleblowing, but content of the documents also upheld assurances that, at that time, Tor could not be cracked.</p>
<p>People's awareness of tracking, surveillance, and censorship may have increased, but so has the prevalence of these hindrances to internet freedom. Today, the network has thousands of relays run by volunteers and millions of users worldwide. And it is this diversity that keeps Tor users safe.</p>
<p>We, at the Tor Project, fight every day for everyone to have private access to an uncensored internet, and Tor has become the world's strongest tool for privacy and freedom online.</p>
<p>But Tor is more than just software. It is a labor of love produced by an international community of people devoted to human rights. The Tor Project is deeply committed to transparency and the safety of its users.</p>

Our platform enables users to create mutual help networks in their local communities where people in need can send out a local call for help (need in-home care items, require grocery/medical supplies delivery, etc.) and are paired with trusted volunteers who can help.<br /><br /></div><div>This project was created in response to the global COVID-19 crisis, leaving people around the world quarantined and unable to leave their houses to obtain necessities without putting themselves or others at risk. To mitigate this, many local groups and organizations, big and small, have started initiatives to help meet these needs.<br /><br /></div><div>Unfortunately, a number of these organizations are struggling with certain logistics, such as coordinating their volunteer workforce, prioritizing the most urgent requests, and ensuring that all requests get fulfilled.<br /><br /></div><div>Our goal is to address these issues, not only enabling those in need to receive help, but also enabling partner groups and organizations to help more efficiently by mobilizing their volunteers with the help of our tracking and ticketing system.<br /><br /></div><div>Right now, we’re developing our <strong>MVP</strong> and rapidly expanding our <em>reach</em>! <div>The Ersilia Open Source Initiative is a UK-based charity whose mission is to strengthen research capacity against infectious and neglected diseases. We do so by providing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) methods for drug discovery and global health.  <br /><br />AI/ML tools holds the power to revolutionize the drug discovery field, reducing the time and costs to new drug development, but they are not yet broadly implemented in day-to-day experimental research. At EOSI, we aim to popularize and democratize the access to AI/ML methods via the  Ersilia Model Hub, the first unified framework for the distribution of ready-to-use AI/ML models for biomedicine, prioritising infectious and neglected disease areas. <br /><br /></div><div>The Ersilia Model Hub is a free, online, open-source platform where scientists can browse through a catalogue of AI/ML models, select the ones that are relevant to their research and run online predictions without the need to write a single line of code. We are gathering, in a single resource, two classes of models. On the one hand, we collect models developed by third parties and available in scientific publications. On the other hand, we develop models in-house and/or in collaboration with research groups in LMICs. <div><br />You'll be helping Babel's maintainers manage a project used by most of the world to compile their JavaScript (including most frameworks like React, Ember, Vue) with more than <a href="https://opencollective.com/redirect?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.npmjs.com%2Fpackage%2F%40babel%2Fcore">28 million downloads/week</a>.<br /><br /></div><div>The funds are generally intended to be used to:</div><ul><li>Support part/full-time maintainers: most core team members contribute in their spare time, and being able to focus on work would go well with less burnout and a sustainable future for the project as a whole.</li><li>Allow us to meet in-person as well as attend conferences and <a href="https://github.com/tc39/agendas">TC39 (the committee that specifies JavaScript) meetings</a> which are every 2 months at various companies around the world. This allows us to be involved in the process that moves various JavaScript proposals forward, allowing us to understand and take part in that discussion and be an implementer (similar to other browsers).</li></ul><div>Babel helps you write the latest version of JavaScript, and is helping shape the future of the language itself. It's used at Facebook, Google, Netflix, and <a href="https://opencollective.com/redirect?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbabeljs.io%2Fusers">hundreds of other companies</a>.<br /><br /></div><div>When your target browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE) don't support certain features natively, it helps you compile it down to a supported version.</div><div><br />In short, developers want to take advantage of the latest syntax in JavaScript before it's implemented in browsers, now. Because the version of JavaScript depends on the client's browser, we can't rely on the fact they are using an up to date browser.<br /><br /></div><div>Babel abstracts the browser away so that you can worry about writing your application rather than trying to figure out what features are supported in each one.<br /><br /></div>
