When installing a new chaincode on the peer you do get the package id of the chaincode which is good... this allows customers to use that data to go through the approve/commit steps.

However the issue is when they are reinstalling an existing chaincode there is nothing in the response to indicate the package id(hash). Install in that case returns a message that the chaincode already exists. We

Abstract

When a contract exceeds the maximum size (24K), it would be very helpful to know the actual size of that specific contract.

Motivation

Allowing the developer to perform a more efficient process of reducing the "rogue" contract.

Problem

Programs deployed with solana deploy use the old loader are not upgradable. The docs recommend using solana program deploy for upgradability but this command is not as intuitive. solana deploy shows up first when solana --help is run.

Proposed Solution

Rename solana deploy to solana deploy-deprecated
