    With some help from the kind folks in the QMK discord, I figured out my problem. The LED driver was missing a connection to VCC. I should be able to green wire it and not have to print additional boards.

    Using a USB-C to A cable I was able to test continuity for the data lines, and ground. However, 5V stopped at the fuse! Checking the fuse it had 5M Ohm😢. Connecting 5V from the ISP header to the bad side of the fuse and the board shows up!

    After getting firmware written via ISP, I was pretty sure that the controller was fine. But why wasn't the device showing in USB list if it had firmware? Next suspect was the USB port.

    Assuming the controller was dead, I reconfigured a pro-micro into an ISP flasher. (Very thankful that the QMK discord folks convinced me to add ISP flash breakout btw)
