• One needs to call make template or make docker_template, in order to update the .ci/gitlab/ci.yml file after editing the .env file.
• For make template to work in a virtualenv with pip install -r requirements-ci.txt installed, the dependencies.py needs to contain python-dotenv and python-gitlab in the ci_requires list.

There is a solution to duplicated hardware names #672 and eve though it is a working one, it is not the ideal solution.

Refactor the code to take this comment into account.

Add some tests.

Current docstring contents are not sufficient. Every function, regardless of trivialness, require at least one usage example.
