Supporting the continued development and maintenance of bUnit will ensure bugs gets fixed, new features and enhancements gets implemented, and support for new features in Blazor gets added.
bUnit has the goal of taking the tedious and hard bits out of testing Blazor components and keep serving the Blazor community with a great testing library. This requires continued enhancement and maintenance.
What it takes to maintain bUnit?
The following are the primary focus areas for maintaining and enhancing bUnit:
- Implement first-party support for new Blazor features such that users get that "it just works" experience.
- Continue implementing new features and enhancements.
- Fix reported bugs in a timely manner.
- Work with the 3rd party component library Blazor ecosystem to ensure users can easily test components that use 3rd party component libraries.
- Create documentation, answering questions and producing other teaching material.
- Community building, e.g., through social platforms like Twitter, Twitch, and Gitter.
Supporting bUnit will help in this effort.
Where does the sponsor funds go?
Open source might be open, as in open to see and use the source code, but it’s not free to create and maintain. Thus, all funds are currently passed on to the sole maintainer of bUnit, Egil Hansen, as compensation for the time invested in bUnit by him.
Egil uses the funds to:
- Buy new hardware
- Cover expenses related to bUnit, e.g., domain names and hosting
- Recover some of the invested time
