4. I’m glad vercel is investing its resources into a proper native-speed successor to webpack (as it should), and that our work on Vite has pushed this to happen. It’ll be interesting to see how it evolves - my hope is it can be made truly framework agnostic, not Next-first.

Asking someone successful about their tech stack is as useful as going to an artist's exhibition and asking what brush they use, it's not relevant and you're focusing on the wrong thing Because tools don't make you successful

Not that this really needs any more praise, but if you’re working on web apps, definitely check out the awesome stuff the team has been building!

This is a true story that isn’t about open source but makes sense in the context of open source. I repeat, this is a 100% true story that isn’t about open source but gives a good idea about what it’s like to maintain an open source project. Ready? Here we go.

Everyone has an opinion on design. There's always an immediate gut reaction: "Ooh, I love this!" or "Meh." But how do you go beyond that to honing your skills of giving helpful, actionable feedback? Here are the 7 questions I run through when critiquing a product's design 👇

People don't really understand the effort that goes into maintaining an open-source project. But *nobody* understands the effort that goes into *leading* a successful open source project. It's mostly not about committing code. It's mostly about chaos management.

I’m an internet nobody, but I’ve worked alongside for quite a long time and know first hand just how much he’s put into both open source and . One of the most genuine, stand up people you will ever meet… the world needs _more_ Henry’s.

"Working on a project" doesn't only mean pushing commits. It also means deciding what to do, syncing with committees, running a team structure, thinking about how and where to get funding, and handling the mental pressure of "I'm responsible for this". twitter.com/sebmck/status/…

People have a really bad habit of criticizing open source software they once benefited from, or possibly never even used. It's free software. If you prefer something else, that's great. But you don't need to crap on someone else's hard work. Make the world better, not worse.

Even after participating in open source for plenty of years now, it still amazes me when a new contributor waltzes in with a PR/issue with a tone like "I can't believe how broken this is! Are you all stupid or something?!" Like, really? That's your entrance to this community? 🤔

The real problem, I guess, is that so few people have worked on an actually agile team. Nobody really even knows what the target looks like so they start thinking it’s when you use a particular tool or have a certain cadence of meetings 😭
