4. I’m glad vercel is investing its resources into a proper native-speed successor to webpack (as it should), and that our work on Vite has pushed this to happen. It’ll be interesting to see how it evolves - my hope is it can be made truly framework agnostic, not Next-first.

I'm super excited about the progress the #React ecosystem has been making with SSR frameworks. It's honestly a win-win-win for a vast majority of the web.
This doesn't apply to *all* of the web though. I'm still concerned that "app" experiences are being overshadowed.

Hi Twitter. I need your help.
A few years ago, I had a freak accident that sent me into catastrophic kidney failure. I've been struggling to find a kidney donor ever since. I'm in dire need of a type O+/- kidney and ask that you please share my story.

Did my dad help you on September 11, 2001? If so, I'm trying to find you. (a thread)
On September 11th, 2001 my dad caught a flight in Ohio to fly home to Denver. He was there on business and was anxious to get home to see his family. (1/11)

This is a true story that isn’t about open source but makes sense in the context of open source. I repeat, this is a 100% true story that isn’t about open source but gives a good idea about what it’s like to maintain an open source project. Ready? Here we go.

We just released an exploration I've been wanting to do for a while:
✨✨
Can we visualize a codebase?
✨✨
We always look at our code in a file/folder list - what would a bird's-eye-view look like, and how could that enhance our understanding of code?

Everyone has an opinion on design.
There's always an immediate gut reaction: "Ooh, I love this!" or "Meh."
But how do you go beyond that to honing your skills of giving helpful, actionable feedback?
Here are the 7 questions I run through when critiquing a product's design 👇

People don't really understand the effort that goes into maintaining an open-source project.
But *nobody* understands the effort that goes into *leading* a successful open source project.
It's mostly not about committing code. It's mostly about chaos management.

"Working on a project" doesn't only mean pushing commits. It also means deciding what to do, syncing with committees, running a team structure, thinking about how and where to get funding, and handling the mental pressure of "I'm responsible for this". twitter.com/sebmck/status/…

People have a really bad habit of criticizing open source software they once benefited from, or possibly never even used.
It's free software. If you prefer something else, that's great. But you don't need to crap on someone else's hard work. Make the world better, not worse.

Even after participating in open source for plenty of years now, it still amazes me when a new contributor waltzes in with a PR/issue with a tone like "I can't believe how broken this is! Are you all stupid or something?!" Like, really? That's your entrance to this community? 🤔
