Hi there.
I have a Slack integration issue that I don't know where to raise.

We have a Slack hook on GitHub action runs. Workflows concurrently canceled by other jobs are marked as failed inside the Slack message.

Here is an example. This job is canceled, but it is marked as failed, which makes a problem for us, as we need to go into every one of these jobs to check if it really failed or if it was canceled.

Where can I raise this issue?

This usually happens because the Slack notification is not reading the actual
GitHub Actions conclusion, but instead interpreting the job as a failure when
the workflow stops before completion.

In GitHub Actions, cancelled workflows have their own conclusion:

cancelled

However, some Slack integrations or custom webhook scripts treat anything that
is not success as failed, which is why cancelled runs appear as failures in
the Slack message.

What to check

1. Verify which integration you are using:

   • GitHub official Slack app
   • a custom webhook
   • an action such as slackapi/slack-github-action

2. Inspect the value being sent to Slack.
   In GitHub Actions the correct field is:

github.event.workflow_run.conclusion

Possible values include:

• success
• failure
• cancelled
• skipped
• timed_out
• action_required

Example

If you're sending messages from a workflow, you can explicitly handle cancelled runs:

if: ${{ github.event.workflow_run.conclusion == 'cancelled' }}

or map statuses before sending the message to Slack.

Where to report it

If you're using the GitHub Slack App, the correct place to raise the issue is:

https://github.com/integrations/slack/issues

If it's coming from a custom Slack action, the issue should be reported in
the repository of that action.

In most cases the fix is simply adjusting the notification logic so that
cancelled is treated as its own state instead of being grouped with failed.
