There are a number of companies, which have truly revolutionised the go-to-market approach for consumer-facing technology. Take Apple for example who made the purchase of music in its own ecosystem legal . Or Dell who redefined the office PC market by introducing customised products. Now we hope to have joined their ranks by introducing a piece of ingenuity into the data centre market.

With our new flex technology and our latest involvement in the extension of the Verne Global data centre campus in Iceland, we like to think we’re helping consumerise the world of data centres. What does this mean for the average data centre customer? Think of a customised computer. You choose the amount of storage space for your hard drive, the type of memory, the graphic card you need and you can even choose the colour. They then package it up, you pay a small sum and happy goes the customer. You get home, you plug in and you play. Safe in the knowledge that what you have is going to work for you 5 years down the line.

Now imagine the same for your data centre facility. Ten years ago, merely making that suggestion could have resulted in you being marched out of your CIO’s office, with folk branding you mad as a hatter.

At Colt however we’ve adopted a new ethos which completely change the way data centres are marketed and delivered to our end customers. No “one size fits all” approach. Once we determine a customer’s exact requirements, we build a tailored solution based on a combination of standardised architecture, proven modular components, and options for dynamic scalability in power, cooling and space.

The result is a data centre that matches your specific criteria. It’s entirely flexible, and can be fully operational in just 16 weeks. It really is as easy as purchasing a new set of laptops. That’s it.

Would it be stretching the imagination to hope that you could make a few calls and order a data centre? Our client Verne Global did just that. That’s why their second Colt ftec datacentre is being delivered to them in just a few short months’ time. Yours too could be just a phone call away.
