    Campaigners have dumped 625kg of plastic on the PM’s doorstep to stop the UK exporting its plastic waste to be burned or sit in landfill in other countries. The plastic left is equivalent to the amount the UK exports every 30 seconds, said.

    What’s the UK government’s plastic policy? Dump it on other countries! Less than 10% of our plastic recycling is actually recycled in the UK. The rest is sent overseas where it’s often burned or dumped, fuelling health and wildlife emergencies. RT to expose. 1/5

    Some of the plastic dumped at Downing Street today was sent in from some of our incredible supporters. They’re fed up with the government’s plastic hypocrisy, they’ve spent time sorting their recycling - when will the government hold up its end of the deal?

    We are saddened to hear that the Turkish government has so quickly overturned the ban on plastic imports, bowing to pressure from industry. We will be watching to check if the new regulation protects people, wildlife and our oceans. 7/7

    The UK govt claims to be a world leader in tackling plastic - but in reality they’re fuelling the plastic crisis and illegally exporting our waste. The UK is the biggest producer of plastic waste per person in the world behind the USA. The govt must reduce plastic. 5/7

    Plastic isn’t just harming wildlife and our oceans - it’s harming people too. Communities near where UK plastic has been dumped and burned in Malaysia report serious health issues. While we have been living through one health emergency our govt has been fuelling another. 3/7
